Where were you working before you started Sidekicking?
Megane : I was working for 3.5 months in a sweet potato farm in Bundaberg
Jose: I was working for OLE, a spanish restaurant in South Bank.
Tell us something unique about yourself
Megane: I enjoy breathing in the fresh air at the beach or on a mountain, I also love cooking for my friends and family. I am originally from Switzerland so true to form I love ice skating, cheese and chocolate.
Jose: I am passionate about music, that is why I started DJing 5 years ago. Megane and I love travelling and exploring new cultures. I love it when she cooks for me, she is my favourite chef.
What was your first Sidekicking gig?
Megane: It was for a banquet of 300 pax, at Royal On The Park in Brisbane for the Queensland Young achievers awards. It was a beautiful night and I was really amazed by what young people can create and achieve on their own.
Jose: It was a cocktail party where the guests had to play Clue and they had to find a murderer. Everybody was wearing 20s costumes and there was a Jazz band too. It was fun watching everyone going around and finding the clues.
Coolest thing you’ve done at Sidekicker?
Megane: Most of the gigs are super cool! My favourites are definitely the events jobs! I had to promote and activate a giant memory board game in the middle of Brisbane City. People could win prizes and were super nice and happy to play. It was only good vibes.
Jose: It was definitely an 80s themed party at Mt. Cotton. It was amazing to see all the people wearing 80s costumes and the music was awesome. The event was very organised and the stage was huge. It was a fun day.
What was your first job?
Megane: I was an ice skating teacher for children and teenagers!
Jose: My first job was a construction assistant manager as I studied Civil Engineering.
What do you hope to do in the future?
Megane: I hope to have my own business to help people feel happy and bloom in their skin, while teaching them another perspective of thinking and living. I would love to study again as well, a master in public health or nutrigenomics.
Jose: I will be travelling around the world sharing my music, making people’s body and soul dance with my music. Spreading a message of happiness and love through the sounds of music.
What did you want to be when you were younger?
Megane: I wanted to be a marine biologist.
Jose: I wanted to be a doctor. I even took some medicine courses but I realised that it was not for me.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone who wants to be a Sidekick?
Megane: I would say get in there and be part of the team and event you are involved in. Help people, ask questions and always be positive!
Jose: Be confident about yourself. Be confident about what you have and your skills. Be happy, humble and honest. Enjoy every gig and be open to learn.
Why do you love what you do?
Megane : I always try to be enthusiastic, take every opportunity and to learn something new in each situation whether it be good or bad. I love what I do with Sidekicker because every job helps me grown and I am never bored!
