Where were you working before Sidekicker?
Before I joined Sidekicker I worked with Hamilton Island. I called this beautiful island home for six years. I started work as a suite concierge, looking after the VIP rooms at the Reef View Hotel. Over the years, I was fortunate enough to join their Operations Team at Staff Accommodation managing over 850 rooms.
Tell us something unique about yourself?
I’m training for the New York Marathon in November where I will be representing White Ribbon – I detest running, the furthest I’ve run in my entire life is 5km and that was a terrible day … but it is for a great cause and I can not wait to see what my body can do!
Coolest thing you’ve done at Sidekicker?
I absolutely love our team at Sidekicker, they are more of a family than work colleagues. Every single day I wake up and I can’t wait to get to work and chat to the crew.
Checking in on our Sidekicks when they’re out in the field always makes my day – it warms my heart to see them in their element fully embracing any challenges thrown at them and creating extraordinary experiences for guests and our customers.
What was your first job?
The day I turned 14 I marched myself to Tumblers Green in Creswick and offered my services as an ‘all rounder’. I told my boss that I was extremely good at helping in the kitchen, keeping my room tidy and would even do the dishes after dinner! I loved listening to the wedding speeches and fell in love with the beautiful gardens. Within a few months was given the responsibility of being the sole waitress for the bridal party.
What do you hope to do in the future?
My career path over the next few years will grow and develop as Sidekicker does, at the moment I am thoroughly enjoying working alongside our clients to create efficiencies and highlight areas where Sidekicker may be able to streamline processes for them or introduce them to exceptional people within 4 hours!
I feel most rewarded when I am empowering others and providing them with the skills, knowledge and tools they need to succeed. One day hope to be in a leadership position where I can do this. For now, I am focused on giving our Queensland customers the absolute best experience possible
What did you want to be when you were younger?
I always wanted to be a corporate lawyer and started my degree in accounting and law. A change in family circumstances caused me to defer. A couple of years later, I had managed a few small teams and came back to study realising that Law wasn’t the only way I could help and empower others.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone who wants to work in a startup?
Write down the things you want to achieve every single day. Working in a startup can be very reactive, it is important to remain focused and have a plan that allows you to progress each and every day.
Why do you love what you do?
There are a thousand reasons, the opportunities within Sidekicker are absolutely incredible and it is a solution that can make such a huge impact for a business both financially and by allowing HR teams to focus on creating incredible employee value propositions and building wonderful cultures. Combined with working with some of the most intelligent and inspirational people I have met in my life I count myself extremely lucky to come to work at Sidekicker every day.
