Our Sidekick community is made up of people from all walks of life. Their backgrounds, their passions and their stories are part of what makes them so good at what they do. Trood is a creative multipotentialite with a strong focus on family. He is on a mission to inspire others to reach their potential. This is his story.
Where were you working before you started Sidekicking?
Before Sidekicker I was working at Goodlife Health clubs as a sales consultant, before that, I was a flight attendant for Virgin Australia.
Tell us something unique about yourself?
I’m a very family orientated guy. Samoans are brought up that way. I love playing basketball, listening to music, dancing, and I have a new interest in filming. I love bringing people together! My father has always told me that I am a people person.
What was your first sidekicking gig?
My first Sidekicking gig was at a prestigious, five star hotel in Perth.
Coolest thing I’ve done at Sidekicker?
To be honest, the coolest thing I’ve done at Sidekicker is being able to work at all of these amazing places.
I’ve worked in bars, restaurants, at functions weddings, the Melbourne Cup and so much more.
What was your first job?
My first job was working in a supermarket as a cashier clerk.
What did you want to be when you were younger?
I’m really into my films and TV so I always wanted to be an actor. I feel as though I have partially achieved this because of all of the hospitality roles I have worked in. Working as F&B at the James Cook Hotel, being a cabin supervisor with Virgin Australia, working as a sales consultant for Telstra and Goodlife – all of these roles, I have utilised my acting skills.
One piece of advice to someone who wants to be a Sidekick?
Dive in, give it your all and don’t be shy. Honestly I have met so many amazing people in all of the places I’ve worked at for Sidekicker.
Why do you love what you do?
I am what’s called a multipotentialite – someone with many interests and many creative pursuits. With Sidekicker, I have the option of doing promotions, sales and hospitality. It’s great, it’s fun and I feel I have built out my character.
I love what I do, because I love meeting and networking with more people. Sidekicker has given me a great opportunity to do that. But most importantly, to be more creative and inspire other people to always do what they love.
