Our Sidekick community is made up of people from all walks of life. Their backgrounds, their passions and their stories are part of what makes them so good at what they do. Rita is an aspiring Marine biologist who Sidekicks for variety, flexibility – and to get behind the scenes with some seriously cool brands.

Where were you working before Sidekicker ?

I was working for the Rockpool Dining Group as a Reservations Consultant. It was a very nice office and my role involved lots of phone/email communication – it was too repetitive.  I needed more variety, more face to face interaction and flexibility so I started Sidekicking.

What was your first Sidekicking gig?

My first Sidekicker job was at the Lululemon Warehouse Sale in Sydney. It was a massive warehouse sale that lasted for 3 days and they needed many Sidekicks to make the sale a success. It was great! I got to meet so many Sidekicks at my first job.

Coolest thing you’ve done at a job?

I love working in events and with Sidekicker I got the opportunity to work at the Google Christmas Party at the Madame Tussauds Museum in Sydney. The venue was awesome, everyone was dressed up and having a great time. I was helping guests out at different interactive stations.

What was your first job?

I started working in promotions at a young age, but my first job was as an events assistant at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. I was doing all of the setup, welcoming guests, crowd control and overall operations assistance of private events in the park.

What do you hope to do in the future?

I have worked in different industries and I want to keep learning new skills, and challenging myself. I love working in the startup environment and I hope to be able to launch my own one day.

What did you want to be when you were younger?

When I was younger I wanted to be a marine biologist. I love the ocean and living by the beach. I remember watching national geographic documentaries every weekend, I have always wanted to investigate and learn about the marine wildlife.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone who wants to be a Sidekick?

At Sidekicker each job can be different so it is important to maintain a positive attitude, be smiley… just go for it!

Why do you love what you do?

I love that I can be flexible and hardworking at the same time in what I do. I can manage my own schedule and challenge myself each day.
